The NSP Protech Funboard / mini mal surfboard is a new addition to the NSP stable and its definitely got all the attributes for the improving surfer who’s looking for their first proper surfboard after nailing down the basics on the surf-school foamie.
Grab a Boardshop complete surfboard package and you’ll be ‘ready-to-rock’ as soon as it arrives. Just fit the fins, attach the leash and wax her up and you can paddle out.
I guess the clues in the name really; the Funboard has all the features in place to put a huge smile on your face and at the same time push your skills in the right direction. This forgiving shape is all about catching plenty of waves in surf of all types. The NSP Protech Funboard is designed to suit a broad spectrum of ages and abilities from first-timers to experienced surfers who don’t get in the sea as much as they’d like. The boards shape is all about fast paddling early wave entry and an ability to turn and really perform under the right feet.
The Protech Funboard has a rounded dolphin style nose which keeps the volume under your chest which keeps it stable, easy to paddle and catch waves early giving you more time to ‘pop’ to your feet. The deck is domed so the board carries its volume centrally keeping the rails nice and sensitive and the rounded pintail is pulled in giving real control in bottom turns and cutbacks.
The Funboard is the ideal next-step surfboard for the surfer who has nailed down all the basics on a foamy or Mal and is looking to purchase their first performance surfboard.
We love the lightweight EPS Epoxy construction and especially like the lively feel of this tech. The Protech boards feel more like a PU Fibreglass surfboard and a bit less stiff and corky than the NSP Elements range.
This combination of amazing value, lightweight durability and real performance makes the Protech Funboard one of our favourites in the tried and tested NSP range.
These NSP surfboards are constructed with an EPS Secure Cell core, 2 x 6oz layers of Fibreglass on the deck and a 6+4oz layer on the bottom + a carbon tail patch which gives a flex point boosting you out of your turns. Lightweight and durable, ideal for the improving surfer and offering great value for the good surfer on a budget.
