Description
The Form Flow Stik Pro is without doubt one of the most exciting surfboards to have dropped into our boardroom for quite a while and in this stunning resin tint it goes to another level.
The Flow Stik Pro is the high-octane, double espresso, maverick sibling in the ever burgeoning Flow Stik family, a performance hybrid or mid-length (we consider the Flow Stik Pro in sizes under 6’4 as more of a performance Hybrid and 6’4 and above as a performance Mid-length). The smaller Hybrid sizes fit into a slightly different ‘tribe’ to the larger mid-lengths, think Lost Evil Twin, Morning of the Earth Fiji and you’re on the right track. This beautiful little board not only looks seriously sexy but has all the moves to back it up.
Artisan crafted here in the UK by Luke Hart and his team at Toy Factory surfboards, using only the finest materials and finished to an immaculate standard. The Flow Stik Pro has 4 deep channels and is set-up to be ridden as a twin (Alan Stokes uses FCS II Power Twins). Wack in the twins for some rapid high-line carving in the bigger and better conditions.
The Flow Stik Pro was originally designed by Alan Stokes as a step-up for Fistral and maxing-out European beach-breaks when a little more length is imperative. Our stock board has been tweaked ever so slightly from the original to give it a tad more versatility and broaden its appeal to encompass improving intermediates as well as the ‘chargers’ who want it for those step-up days when early entry and composure are top of their check list.
Alan described the FSP as “”the closest thing to friction free surfing with ultimate speed on tap, a totally unique surfing sensation””. We’ve had a stock 6’6 demo here which has proven a very popular ‘grab-n-go’ ride for a lot of the guys here. It really is fast, bloody fast but in a controlled way that relaxes your approach to riding waves, focussing on linking turns and carving rail turns akin to drawing lines in fresh powder.
Head shaper and Toy Factory owner Luke says about the FSP; “”How you surf it is up to you, but you can be sure of one thing you’ll be doing it fast!!! With a pulled in template, pushed forward wide point and foam under the chest the FSP paddles just as well as the original Flow Stik, if not better in bigger waves, the channels out the back add drive and lift with added hold coming from tucked rails and a touch of classy curve in the rocker lines. Trim in style in barrels to big walls or just send it down the line when its 2 foot at your local break. It’s the board Alan fell in love with and the catalyst to create the FLOW STIK family in all it’s guises””. Form’s TST construction surfboards are roughly 10% lighter than a stock PU built board and deliver a 20% increase in tensile strength and a staggering 50% increase in it’s resistance to compression dents etc. This kind of strength is often associated with rigid and characterless epoxy surfboards which ‘chatter’ on the wave; TST is nothing like that and while it is a fraction stiffer than regular PU it still has lively and responsive flex pattern that’ll last for the lifespan of the board! TST is a brilliant option if you’re ‘heavy’ on your boards and offers the perfect construction for a travel board that has to run the gauntlet of notoriously clumsy baggage handlers!
If we don’t have the Form surfboard you’re looking for, or the stock dims don’t work for you, just give us a ring on (44) 01243 674250 or email [email protected] and we’ll happily discuss a custom order for you.
The team at Boardshop are absolutely stoked to be stocking these beautiful boards and would happily consider taking your old or unwanted surfboard as a trade-in against a new Form shape.
