Description

The new Channel Islands OG Flyer surfboard is as close as you’ll get to the original game-changing board that Al Merrick equipped some of the worlds best pro surfers back in the late 1990’s. This board changed what the pro’s thought was possible in average surf conditions. Buy shortening and widening and reducing the rocker on a regular HP shortboard the Flyer brought speed, flow along with world tour performance to lesser surf conditions, and has continued to be a go-to board for the CI Team on the world stage.
The OG Flyer is the perfect everyday surfboard for competent surfers in average and above conditions. The OG Flyer has a single concave running into a double concave through the middle and a vee exiting at the tail block. The Flyer sports the signature AM bump squash, with a slightly turned down rail, and a subtle nose beak. Al’s son Brit suggests riding the OG Flyer about the same length as you are tall. The OG Flyer hides some extra foam and is an ideal shortboard for attacking your home break when the conditions are a little shy of cover-shot! Few of us are served pristine barrels on a daily basis so having a little extra foam in a shorter and wider outline will keep your turns snappy and stop you getting ‘bogged down’ when its a bit mushy and onshore.
